Cinema "The Children of Huang Shi"

Featuring an amazing cast including Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Radha Mitchell, Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh and directed by Roger Spottiswoode, this film is a brutal and compelling story based on true events during the war in China when the Chinese were energetically defending themselves against the brutal Japanese fascist invasion of their country years before the European war against fascism started, later to become known as the Second World War.

This film portrays a vignette of George Aylwin Hogg's time in war-torn China actually bearing a somewhat sketchy resemblance to accurate historic truth. However, the important outcome of viewing this film is the telling of the kind of life this amazing young man led in that part of the world at that time.

His life's work is being celebrated in many ways throughout China and in the UK in a combined effort to keep the memories alive of this courageous young journalist and educator who unselfishly dedicated his short life to the good of the ordinary Chinese people who came to love and admire him for his humanitarian work amongst them during their most difficult times of the Japanese invasion of their country.
